Thursday had a good roll up of 21 golfers for a 12-hole competition. Kathy Mooney, fresh from a holiday, put on her best performance. Kathy had an excellent round of 32 points to easily win the afternoon’s golf. Balls went to Peter Ryan, Brian Balaam, Bob Slattery, Harold Lyme, Lloyd Roots and Peter Dale.
Members played an 18-hole par event on Saturday. A sunny spring day attracted one of the bigger fields for some time. Most of the players had their heads down concentrating on their game as quite a few were playing the first round of the club match play. Alan Cairney certainly put on his best performance for a considerable time, winning A grade with +6. The runner-up was Tim Crichton with a solid +3.
Dylan Kyte, one of the club’s newer recruits, had a marvellous round of +9 to win B grade. Kevin McGrath was the B grade runner-up with +2. Nearest the pin on the first was Doug Collins, Barry Lang won the seventh, Anthony McGrath the ninth and Dennis O'Connell saved his best to last to win the 17th. Balls went to Barry Lang, Rob McGrath, Terry Robinson, Peter Ryan, Peter Stewart, Eric Whalan, Peter Griffiths, Doug Collins and Laurie Murphy.
Golf next Saturday will be an 18-hole stableford and on Monday it will be an 18-hole stableford. Staff and volunteers will be doing renovations on the greens on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Volunteers will be needed to help with this work. Remember, many hands make light work, so please come along and lend a hand.
