THE Education Week theme for 2018 was “Today’s schools – creating tomorrow’s world”, a theme that was echoed by both principal Craig Luccarda and guest speaker Mikaela Sherlock at Oberon High School’s special assembly.

The importance of lifelong learning and enjoyment from learning, as well as the benefits and opportunities this brings, ran through ex-student Mikaela’s speech.
The students, staff and community members were also given an insight into the Premier’s Anzac Memorial Scholarship tour that Peta McGrath joined.
Students received special awards for citizenship and contributions to the community.
Oberon High principal Mr Luccarda presented appreciation awards to community members Bill Wilcox and Glen Stewart for their contribution to the school.
A large audience from the community again showed their support for the students and community members who were recognised with awards for their contribution to the educational community of Oberon High.
The students displayed their talents with music, vocal, dance and drama performances rounding out the Education Week celebration, which was followed by a morning tea.
