Twenty-four played the 12-hole competition and enjoyed a bit of good fellowship in the club after. Peter Griffiths showed his potential with a good score of 27 points to take the honours.
Not far behind him was Kath Mooney with 27 points. Balls went to Bob Slattery, Barry Stubbs, Roger Arrow, Laurie Murphy, Irene Bishop and Andrew Yeo.
It was a different matter on Saturday. Strong, cold winds and a bit of rain and snow was enough to deter most of our regular golfers. A few stalwarts played a stableford event. Some only played nine holes, though.
Darren Gordon showed his grit and determination to complete the 18 holes and won with 32 points. Neil Whalan won the nine-hole competition with 16 points.
Balls went to Anthony McGrath, Alan Cairney and Laurie Murphy. Nearest the pin on the first went to Alan Cairney, while Bill Edwards was closest on the ninth hole. This Saturday we will play the monthly medal and putting competition.
Members are reminded that on Friday, August 10 there will be a dinner at the club to express our appreciation to those who have supported the club’s major events during the year. Invite a friend and make your booking with the club caterers.
