Vandalism has regularly occurred over the past four years at the toilets at the Common.
Typically, damage has been sustained to the internal componentry of the toilet block, but other areas, including artworks, gym equipment and playground equipment, have also been damaged.
Vandals have typically broken out sections of the gyprock roof lining in both the main toilet areas, each time creating a large mess and cost for council to continually patch.
Council has allocated $9702 from the 2017/2018 Town Improvement reserve to allow work to be completed within the current financial year.
In order to deter ongoing vandalism, it is proposed to remove the gyprock ceiling linings in both the men’s and women’s amenities and replace the internal roof lining with a modern metal colorbond lining.
