This week Mrs Bird invited former Oberon Showgirl Dominic Koudrin to talk to potential participants on all aspects of entering the competition from a local level to judging at zone finals.
Dominic said she enjoyed everything about the competition.
“At the zone finals I got to meet other participants from our zone, which includes Newcastle,” she said.
“I enjoyed the opportunity to gain confidence in public speaking.”
So far there are four entrants and Fiona Alamyar, Chloe Sheppard, Bronte Gavley and Alexandra Sikima had many questions for Dominic, who gave the girls some tips when it came to competition and the judging panel.
Mrs Bird said the showgirl dinner will be on October 27 where the winner will be announced.
“We are having the Oberon judging and dinner early as the zone finals will be held in Mudgee in March 2019,” she said.
"This will give the winning contestant time to prepare for the zone finals.
"The judges are Kevin Hillsdon, Bruce Webb, Lyndsey Douglas and Glenys Newstead.
"The girls participate in an interview of about 15 to 20 minutes. Judges will ask questions on the local area and general knowledge of what is going on in the world.
"The competition is open to all girls aged between 18 and 25 years. Young girls are invited to participate in this fantastic opportunity to represent the Oberon Show and the Oberon district."
Mrs Bird said the dinner will be held at the Oberon Showgound hall and the theme will be "country chic".
"We will be sourcing everything local where possible - even the entertainment,” she said.
"There will be auctions on the night which include dinner at one of Matt Moran's city restaurants and two nights’ accommodation at Terrigal."
Mrs Bird wanted to thank sponsors Oberon Pharmacy and Oberon Council for their support.
