Thursday afternoon was wintry and a few of the regulars didn't leave their warm living room. Seven brave souls did play the 12-hole competition and the lone lady in the field, Irene Bishop, was too good for the boys with a good round of 26 points. Balls went to Alan Cairney and Kevin Hally.
Saturday was an even more wintry day than Thursday afternoon. Nevertheless, 17 of the keenest of our golfers played an 18-hole stableford event.
Luke Christie-Johnston was out early and had a solid round for 36 points to win the day. Justin Evans, playing after a bit of a break, was the runner-up with a good 35-point round.
Nearest the pin on the first was Alan Cairney, Adrian Poulten was closest on the seventh and John McKinnon hit a nice shot to the ninth to be closest to the pin. Balls went to Marty Hotham and Eric Whalan.
Members are reminded that we need at least three golfers to make a nine-hole competition on Saturdays. If you think it is too cold or wet, the option is there through the winter months.
Whether you want to play nine or 18 holes, it is a good idea to play earlier during the winter months and avoid the late winter afternoon.
