SNOW is predicted for the Oberon district this weekend as winter starts to really take hold across the region.

The Bureau of Meteorology’s MetEye website shows areas of snow falling next Saturday in areas around Shooters Hill, Oberon and Jenolan Caves.

At this stage the snow is expected to start falling near Shooters Hill around lunchtime, with the forecast area for snowfall growing throughout the afternoon.

By 10pm Saturday snow is expected across a wide area of the Central Tablelands, stretching to the north of Oberon.

Snow is also forecast near Yetholme and on Mount Canobolas at Orange.

The MetEye forecast will be regularly updated throughout the week.
