By the end of the week we might be wondering where autumn has gone.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting the region’s first snow of the year on Friday morning as temperatures drop to just one degree Celsius overnight.
According to maps on the bureau’s website, heavy falls are predicted around Jenolan Caves and Oberon and to the east between Bathurst and Lithgow.
Snow is expected to start falling around 1am and is likely to clear by mid-morning.
That means potentially hazardous conditions on the road with black ice the greatest danger. As always, people are urged to slow down and drive to the conditions – and be aware that not all dangers can be clearly seen.
Oberon Council will post any road closures on their facebook page and website after road inspections.
The bureau is also forecasting an 80 per cent chance of rain on Friday and a top of just 3 degrees.
Saturday will be another cold one with a forecast top of 6 degrees, with a top of 10 degrees expected next Sunday.
