Often the two services are only seen together in times of need during an incident or for community engagement activities.
Captain of the Oberon NSWRFS Lance Sulley said there's a lot that happens behind the scenes that people don’t see, such as training together, knowing and learning about each other’s capabilities, service structure and equipment.
Captain of the Oberon FRNSW, Keven Verhoeven, said: “Although we are from different services with different operational guidelines and equipment, we have the same goals, to protect the irreplaceable.
“Being the primary combat agency for fire (in town) and hazmat means the closest FRNSW backup can have a delay. We rely on our local NSWRFS units for immediate support. Rest assured, regardless of wherever you are – help will arrive quickly, with the skills to handle any situation.”
