The SCCF is a NSW Government initiative that funds sporting, recreational and place-making infrastructure for regional towns.

Council received a total of $1,095,000 in grant funds for six projects in round one. 

This amount was above the original round one allocation of $780 000. The adjusted round two funding, which takes into account the extra round one allocation, is $1,230,618.

Councils have been asked to make multiple applications with a combined total value that exceeds their funding allocation.

It is recommended that Oberon Council submit a minimum of $1.5 million of grant applications in this round.

Oberon Council had 15 grant requests for council and community projects.

Ten projects were prioritised by councillors. First was the Indoor Fitness Centre valued at $500,000, then it was the Oberon Pool Complex stage two upgrade valued at $150,000, Black Springs tennis courts and softfall to playground valued at $100,000, Burraga playground softfall and fence valued at $70,000, Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway platform upgrade valued at $133,000, town signage valued at $250,000, junior rugby league electronic scoreboard valued at $96,161, Rotary Club Falls Hill lookout upgrade stage two valued at $55,646, St Aidan's village church amenities valued at $72,288 and Bowling Club shelter and amenities valued at $105,504. Total applications are valued at $1,532,599. An application for O'Connell recreation ground stage one valued at $500,000 was ineligible as no land has been secured for the project to go ahead.

The Indoor Fitness Centre will involve the construction of a 700m2 building on the western side of the existing Oberon swimming pool complex. The front half will be fully enclosed with gymnasium space, amenities and office facilities. The rear half of the building will be partially enclosed with a basketball court.

Applications must be registered by May 4, 2018.
