A strong field of 50 played a two-person ambrose on Good Friday. Rob McGrath has been the club’s form golfer for the past month and didn't disappoint on Friday. Rob teamed up with new recruit Andrew Yeo and they had the marvellous score of 59 1/4 to comfortably win. Rob played as a swinger with Gareth Samuel and they combined well to be runners-up with 60 1/2.

Thursday golfers enjoyed the very pleasant autumn afternoon, with a field of 12 playing the 12-hole competition. Darren Gordon, keen to get some fine-tuning before the championships, was too good for the rest of the field. Balls went to Harold Lyme, Brian Balaam and Kim Rawlings.

A good field of 38 players played an 18-hole stableford event on Saturday. Dennis O'Connell showed some good touch to win A grade with 39 points. Robert Hayden was the runner-up with 38 points.

One of the club’s newest recruits, Justin Evans, showed he will be a force to be reckoned with as time goes by. Justin won B grade with 38 points, closely followed by Luke Christie-Johnston on 37 points.

Nearest the pin on the first was Tim Crichton, Harold Lyme was just 43 centimetres from the cup on the seventh, Barry Lang was closest on the ninth and Dylan Harvey won the 17th. Balls went to Alan Cairney, Marty Hotham, Anthony McGrath, Laurie Murphy, Barry Stubbs, Eric Whalan and visitor Grant Underwood.

Monday attracted a handy field of golfers to play a stableford event. Brett Crichton brushed the hair back and couldn't be caught. He had an amazing round of 45 points to win the event ahead of Lloyd Roots on 41. Balls went to Alan Cairney and Darren Gordon.

There were some rule changes in 2017 that players may not know about. One of those is "Ball Moved". There is no penalty for accidental movement of the ball on the putting green or in searching for the ball; and a player is not responsible for causing a ball to move unless it is "virtually certain" that he or she did so.

The Club Championships begin on Saturday. Dennis O'Connell is the Championship sponsor. On Saturday, the first round of the Championship will be the monthly medal round for trophies donated by Peter Dale.

Seeding for the first round in A grade will be Rob McGrath, Rob Hayden, Alan Cairney and Marty Hotham (tee off at 11am) and the second group will be Barry Lang, Tim Crichton, Mick English and Darren Gordon (tee off at 11.10am).

B grade seeding: Brett Crichton, Laurie Murphy, Eric Whalan and Terry Robinson (11.20am).

Both grades will be reseeded for Sunday depending on scores.
