All members took the SCR pledge in front of the whole school.
The SRC will be involved in fundraising throughout 2018 to purchase equipment for the school as well as raising funds for nominated charities.
SRC members are also available to represent their peers in communications with staff.
The first fundraiser for the year was on Valentine’s Day, when the SRC sold chocolate roses at the school.
Shannon Marshall is co-ordinating the SRC this year and is pleased to be working with the students.
Plenty of fight shown in games
THE Oberon High School open boys and girls soccer teams faced off against Lithgow High School in the first round of the western area soccer competition last Friday.
The girls played first, with the score unfortunately being 3-0 at half-time.
The girls fought hard and were unlucky with quite a few of the goals.
Paige Corby scored a penalty goal during the second half, leaving the final score 6-1.
A special mention goes to Masey Taggart and Jess Ryan who were willing to play in goals - a position often hard to fill.
The second match of the day saw the boys go out to take on Lithgow.
In the end, they went down 5-0, which does not reflect how hard they played and the potential they displayed on the field.
A special mention goes to Kynan Thompson, who stepped up to the mark for the side and played a full game in goals.
Thanks also to Ray Sargent, Ryan Thompson and Nathan Voytilla-Borg, who helped put the soccer nets up and down on the day.
Overall, both teams played well and fought right until the end.
The teams look forward to the next contention in soccer against Molong in Rural Cup later this month.
