For some, it is a day of bold, adventurous declarations of love. For others, it’s a day for a more subtle way to show someone they are important and loved.
And for others it is a day to show members of the community that they are appreciated and special.
That was the case last week when, on Valentine's Day, a team from Mayfield Garden arrived at work early to cut flowers out of the garden and put 70 arrangements together to hand-deliver to residents at Columbia's Aged Care facility to wish them a happy Valentine's Day.
Mayfield's marketing and event co-ordinator Rebecca Zammitt said the staff from Mayfield were excited to do something a little different to make the men and women at the facility feel warm and fuzzy on the special day.
Ms Zammitt said one man said he had never received a bunch of flowers ever - so this was very special for him.
A special cake and afternoon tea followed the presentation of bouquets to residents.
