Thursday afternoon attracted a good field of 16. Doug Collins had his game under control and was too good for the rest of the field. Balls went to Peter Dale, Don Miller and Graham Hotham.
Golfers played a stroke round on Saturday, playing for the monthly medal and medal of medals. The trophies were sponsored by Mick English. There was a strong field of 37 golfers playing in favourable conditions.
Billy Wilcox enjoyed the sunshine and excelled with his golf to have a great round of 80/66 to win A grade and the A grade medal. The runner-up was sponsor Mick English with a fine round of 77/67. Mick also won the scratch ball for A grade.
Robbie Armstrong had an excellent round of 93/65 to be a clear winner in B grade and win the B grade medal. The B grade runner-up was Bill Edwards with 90/68. Bill also won the B grade putting with 30 putts.
Balls went to Harold Lyme, Don Miller, Tim Crichton, Barry Lang, Hugh O'Neil, Steve Serong and Neil Whalan. Nearest the pin on the first went to one of the ladies, Robyn Stapleton, Peter Dale was closest on the seventh, Neil Whalan honed in on the ninth and Tim Crichton hit a good one to the 17th.
Harold Lyme won the B grade scratch ball and his playing partner Hugh O'Neil won the A grade putting with just 23 putts. Barry Lang was the winner of the A grade medal of medals and Kevin McGrath the B grade medal of medals.
On Sunday the club’s pennants teams lined up against Leura at Blackheath. Both teams were soundly beaten, but not without a good effort to closely contest all the matches. Next week the teams play Blackheath at the Wentworth Falls course.
Golf on Saturday will be the first round of the fourball par championships playing for the Jack Robinson Memorial Shield. It would be a good idea if players lined themselves up with a suitable partner or else the starter will on the day.
