A NUMBER of Oberon properties remain without power following a wild storm that swept through the region.
The storm on Tuesday evening brought down trees and left more than 1300 customers without power at one point.
Essential Energy manager community relations northern, David Crough, said the storm caused widespread damage to the electricity network.
“Over the last 24 hours storms across the Essential Energy footprint have caused widespread damage to the electricity network and its peak there were more than 22,000 homes and businesses without power,” he said.
“The storm has caused a large amount of damage to the electricity network over a wide area in the Central West, including blown fuses, faulty transformers, fallen powerlines and broken power poles.”
Mr Crough said at 9am on Wednesday, 33 properties in Oberon remained without power.
Also across the Central West there were 39 properties in Bathurst without power, as well as 271 in Blayney, 131 in Forbes, 33 in Oberon, four in Orange and one in Canowindra.
“Extra crews and equipment from Molong are assisting Bathurst crews, Blayney crews are being assisted by Orange crews and Oberon crews are being assisted by Molong and Orange crews to ensure power can be restored to customers as quickly as safety allows,” Mr Crough said.
“Essential Energy reminds the public to report fallen or damaged powerlines immediately by calling 13 20 80 and to stay at least eight metres away from the line and anything in contact with it.”
Mr Crough said crews would continue to progressively restore power once repairs have been made and hope to have power restored to all customers today.
