On Saturday, golfers, prospective golfers and friends played the traditional Christmas Ambrose for trophies kindly donated by Kevin and Stella from the Big Trout Motor Inn.
It was a magnificent warm day for the event and one of the largest fields turned out to try the luck with a bit of skill thrown in. There were some very competitive scores returned and about half the field received a trophy.
With a fine score of 52 7/8, Rob McGrath, Glyn, Gareth and Kylie Samuel were the clear winners. John and Tim Crichton, Laurie Murphy and Adrian Poulten were the runners-up, winning themselves a ham or turkey.
Hamish Anderson’s team won the nearest the pin on the first hole. Bruce Amery and his crew were just 43cm from the seventh pin. Anthony McGrath and his team won the ninth and Rob Hayden and his crew the 17th. Brett Crichton and his team won the second shot nearest the pin on the 13th and Bart Fitzpatrick and his crew claimed the second shot nearest the pin on the 18th.
Several other teams won a trophy on a draw of the cards.
Each year the club runs the annual 4BBB event from February to December. The winners this year were Laurie Murphy and Alan Cairney. Dick O'Donnell and Dennis O'Connell won the 4BBB aggregate.
Saturday, December 23 will be an 18-hole stableford event. There will be golf over the holiday break. There is an aggregate event sponsored by Eric for the three games on December 26, 30 and Monday, January 1.
