During the afternoon, students were engaged in activities such as games highlighting hunting skills, painting boomerangs and cooking johnny cakes.
Special guests for the afternoon were Aunty Gloria Rogers, Uncle Ray Rogers and Mavis Freier.
Wiradjuri elder Aunty Gloria addressed a special assembly and, keeping with the 2017 NAIDOC theme of “Our Languages Matter”, taught the students some local Wiradjuri words and phrases.
“Our Indigenous students worked hard all day organising the activities and everyone seemed to have a great time,” Indigenous programs co-ordinator Nick Bender said.
He said it was “great to see our Indigenous students celebrating and sharing their culture with their fellow students”.
