The NSW Government says students will be safer as new infrastructure is installed at schools as part of a statewide program.
“The $5 million program is being rolled out across 132 schools around the state and is part of the NSW Government’s $10 million boost to school zone safety,” Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said.
“I’m pleased to announce that Bathurst has shared in this funding and work has now been completed in school zones at Oberon Public School and Rylstone Public School.”
At these schools, improvements have been made to the pedestrian refuges, kerb ramps, road signage and line marking, he said.
“Every school in the region already has at least one set of school zone flashing lights installed and these upgrades will only further enhance the safety of our local children,” Mr Toole said.
The number of pedestrian deaths in NSW so far this year stands at 41, which is 12 fewer than the same time last year.
