The award recognises students who have demonstrated either high academic results or a passion for science in their senior years of schooling and is named in honour of Victor Chang, one of the former world-leading cardiac surgeons and a pioneer of Australian cardiothoracic surgery and research.
As part of the award, Jasmin has been invited to attend a tour of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute in Sydney.
Jasmin was nominated for her completion of both biology and chemistry via the compressed mode of learning in her year 11 studies.
She ranked first in both Higher School Certificate courses.
Jasmin displayed diligence and perseverance in her science studies and often communicated with her teachers to receive feedback and further develop her higher order thinking skills, completed all tasks to the best of her ability and travelled a substantial distance to and from school to receive extra assistance during days she did not have timetabled classes.
It was a proud moment for Jasmin, her family and teacher as Dr Ralph Patrick proudly presented the awards on behalf of the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
