THE Oberon Ladies’ Golf Open Day, held on November 20 and kindly sponsored by Ray White Emms Mooney, was a great success, with nearly 50 golfers participating.
The course was in great shape, but it was a good policy to keep on the fairways!
Eleven clubs were represented, from as far away as Ballina, Goulburn, Pennant Hills, Orange, Canowindra and Wellington. The more local ladies came from Bathurst, Lithgow, Blackheath and Leura.
Everyone greatly enjoyed playing on the picturesque course which held plenty of challenges for all.
The visitors took out the prizes in Division 1. The winner in the scratch event, Jean Dooley from Goulburn, came in with 84 and the runner-up was Sue Brooks from Lithgow with 85.
The nett event was won by L Usher from Orange with 75 and runner-up was Laura Cragg from Bathurst with 76 nett.
The stableford points winner was Debbie Collins from Goulburn with 31 points. Robyn Slattery was the runner-up with 30 points. The visitors took out the nearest the pins and the longest drive.
The local ladies dominated Division 2. Wilma Artery won the scratch event, coming in with 96 off the stick, and runner-up was Jenn Capel with 102.
The nett winner was Joan Graham with 77 and Glennie McGrath was runner-up with 80. Jenn Capel was the only one among the locals to take a nearest the pin prize in Division 2.
The locals in Division 3 showed the visitors how it was done, with Bev Dale, Joan Sullivan and Alma Hotham all among the winners in the nearest the pin comp.
The prizes given out at the open day were all purchased locally.
Thirteen ladies played in a stableford in last week’s Wednesday competition. Bev Dale was the winner in Division 1 with an excellent 39 points!
Second was Robyn Slattery with 36 points and third was Lyn Prowse with 32 points. Nearest the pin winner was also Robyn.
Winner in Division 2 was Yvonne Collins with 33 points.
In second place was Joan Sullivan with 32 points and in third place was Flo Spence with 31 points.
Next week will be a nine-hole stableford competition followed by the ladies’ Christmas party.
