NOT a lot of men's golf this week. Thursday golfers managed to get around before the raindrops began.

A small field of 13 braved the elements on Saturday to play a stroke round for the monthly medal. Terry Robinson’s Black Springs heritage stood him in good stead in the blustery conditions. He had a good round of 86/70 to win the day and the monthly medal.
Dennis O'Connell wasn't far behind with a round of 87/72 to be runner-up. Neil Whalan handled the conditions well to come in with the best scratch score of 85.
A group of nine of our members travelled to Oatlands at Dundas to play in their competition on Saturday. Most of the crew struggled with the scoring on the unfamiliar course.
Laurie Murphy showed he has a genuine handicap and can handle the strange surroundings. He had the admirable score of 33 stableford points - pretty good, especially when he was firing for the wrong green on the 17th.
The best four cards from Oberon were no match for the best four of the Oatlands crew. One of the highlights was Rob McGrath and his crew sharing a nearest the pin on the ninth hole which won them $92 each thanks to Rob’s great shot. Oatlands members will be making a return visit to Oberon on September 10.
Ray and Margaret Ross will be leaving Oberon in the near future. The club will host a farewell lunch for them on Sunday, August 27. More details to come.
