Darren Gordon showed everyone how it’s done with a fine round of 40 points to win A grade from Anthony McGrath with 34 points.
B grade was much closer, with Terry Robinson on 35 points edging out Doug Collins on 34 points.
Balls went to 29 points with Tim Crichton (only A grader here), Harold Lyme, Paul Behan, Darren’s dad Ian Gordon (on a visit to town from the coast) and Peter Ryan taking home the prizes.
Visitors also included our mechanic Nathan and his mates.
Highlight of the day for one B-grader was to complete the round scoring on every hole and manage a not-so-handy 24 points. No names, of course.
Nearest the pins went to Darren Gordon with 0.98 centimetres on the first, Anthony McGrath with 3.4 metres on the seventh, Tim Crichton with 4.8 metres on the ninth and Billy Wilcox on the 17th with 2.7 metres.
Thursday wasn’t too bad a roll-up with 16 starters to see Doug Collins take out first spot with 32 points from Paul Behan on 31 points.
Balls went to 28 points for Billy Wilcox, Peter Ryan and John McKinnon.
Don’t forget the course still needs volunteers to assist with various jobs, particularly while we finalise the steps of employing a new greenkeeper/course supervisor.
Please speak to Bill Edwards regarding your availability.
Next week we have a double par event on Saturday as well as the usual Thursday golf.
