HELPING HAND: Tina Lunnon, volunteer leader for Hammondcare, is looking for volunteers in Oberon to visit the elderly for some much needed social interaction.

Hammondcare is an independent Christian charity currently working in Oberon providing personal care, household duties and outing services to elderly clients who need assistance in their homes.

Tina Lunnon, volunteer leader for Hammondcare, said now they are looking for volunteers in Oberon to provide social contacts for those clients who do not have regular family or community visits.

“Volunteers contribute to a diverse range of needs including social contact, music engagement, gardening, outings through to pet therapy,” she said.

“Sometimes people just need a little care or someone to visit and share a cup of tea, listening to the client and share some stories.

“Volunteers usually spend an hour or two with someone once a week - more they have the time. The feedback that we get from our volunteers is that they have as much fun as the person they are visiting.”

Volunteers will be trained and supported by a local leader. To become involved contact Tina on 1800 793 399 or email volunteer@hammond.com.au.
