Last Saturday evening the atmosphere at the Miss Oberon Showgirl dinner was perfect for the official announcement of the 2014 winner.
Before the announcement the four entrants, Megan Gearon, Lydia Moore, Stacey Thomas and Amy-Ann Newson served canapes and complimentary drinks to more than 80 guests.
This was followed by dinner and dessert.
Kurt Booth and Shannen Foley provided music throughout the evening.
Cr Clive McCarthy congratulated all four showgirl contestants. Cr McCarthy said all girls were worthy of winning and they would all be great rural ambassadors for Oberon.
Judges Kevin Hillsdon, Sue Fisher-Smith and Kate Bird said it was very difficult to choose between the four entrants. Ms Bird said they should all be proud of themselves for participating.
Organisers would like to thank their sponsors Oberon Council, Oberon Pharmacy and Lynne Butterfield.
Cheryl Burt and Glenys Newstead along with their husbands, Gary and Graham have to be acknowledged for their hard work in cooking and presenting dinner.
Thanks also goes to Karen Bailey serving in the bar, Glenn and Kerry Stewart and Sharon and Sophie Foley for helping to serve dinner, and to all those volunteers who washed dishes afterwards.
Thanks goes to Eula Minarovic for her home-made desserts which were very popular.
After official proceedings the fireworks were enjoyed by all.
