Be part of an exciting growth phase and join our expanding team across Victoria. As our Vocation Consultant located in the Bendigo area, you'll implement and run the Vocation Support Program, servicing the Loddon Mallee region.
This is a part-time role - 23 hours per week - your work hours are flexible and can be structured around your availability. Contract period is until December 2023.
About us:
Our vision is to create the opportunity for a meaningful life after stroke.
SAV is driving an Australian-first community-based support service for Victorians living with the effects of stroke. Focused on community inclusion and economic participation, our aim is to bridge the gap from when a stroke survivor leaves clinical care to when they return home and are faced with the challenges of re-engaging with the community and establishing meaningful lives post-stroke.
Our Stroke Support Centres are a local hub for all stroke survivors, where they can receive non-clinical, hands-on support and education, no matter what stage of their stroke recovery journey they are at. Our Centres provide a safe, supportive, inclusive and community-based place for stroke survivors to continue their self-led recovery and make social connections.
About the role:
You will be joining a team of knowledgeable, passionate and supportive Coordinators and will be responsible for the implementation of our Vocation Support Program. Using a case management model, you will work closely with stroke survivors to identify their employment (paid or voluntary) and/or education goals. You will offer a person-centred approach, which is dependent on the participant’s goals, strengths and needs post-stroke. Working to develop a pathway to achieve their goals, you will provide support, advocacy and linkages with other local services providers, local businesses and/or education/training facilities.
About you:
You are a highly motivated team player who thrives on working with and helping people. You offer a strategic approach and are organised & structured in your working. Your interpersonal skills are of the highest quality, with the demonstrated ability to work with people of all ages & backgrounds, and an empathy with disadvantaged & unemployed people. Ideally, you are someone with established links within community and disability services, have an awareness of the local labour market and aren't afraid to develop new relationships with local employers.
Your qualifications & experience:
If you would like an exciting & new opportunity, have the drive to succeed and take pride in providing a high quality service, this is an opportunity for you!
