Guest of honour, Bill Wilcox from the Oberon RSL Sub-branch, delivered the ode.
School leaders Bailey Armstrong, Ray Sargent, Jess Ryan and Chris Dunbar all spoke movingly of the meaning of Remembrance Day – remembering Armistice Day as well as the sacrifices that have been made in various theatres of war since 1918.
The assembly observed a minute of silence as part of this very respectful ceremony.
PARTNER A CLASS
OBERON High School is only the third school in Australia to participate in an innovative and exciting program with the Commonwealth Bank.
The program was launched at the school last week by CommBank’s Andrew Roberts, director of market positioning and engagement, and Glen Stewart, manager of CommBank’s Oberon Branch.
Under the program, entitled Partner A Class, senior business studies students will be working with experienced bank executives on a range of initiatives.
Over the next 12 months, the students will have opportunities to expand their knowledge and understanding of many aspects of the financial corporate world through this program.
They will receive feedback on prescribed assignments and class activities from bank executives.
More broadly, the program helps students with presentation skills, personal presence and preparing for future job interviews.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for our students to receive expert tuition and guidance from people who are at the forefront of the business world,” business studies teacher Sandra Mackay-Galea said.
“The exposure that our students will have to access the expertise of bank executives will put them in good stead for a successful future whatever their chosen career.”
