A GRAVEL road to White Springs cemetery has been completed thanks to a memorandum of understanding between the Forestry Corporation, Oberon Council, the Black Springs Progress Association and community members.

The upgrade means the cemetery is now accessible all year round. The old cemetery is off Campbell's River Road, five kilometres from the village of Black Springs.
"All these bodies coming together saw this project move ahead and now it's accessible to the public," Oberon deputy mayor Kerry Gibbons said.
Following are some of the names of those buried at White Springs cemetery:
Headstones - John Foley, died February 26, 1891, age 55; Sarah Walsh, died 1867, age unknown; Peter Behan, died June 4, 1874, age 74; Margaret Behan, died 1884, age 73; Mary Hogan, died September 7, 1859, age 82; Bridget Hanrahan, died July 2, 1860, age 22; Emily Kessey, died 1878, age unknown; John Kessey, died March 19, 1902, age 65; Mary Ann Kessey, died August 16, 1907, age 79.
Unmarked graves - Catherine Foley, died August 16, 1876, age 12; Michael Hanrahan, died November 1, 1879, age 17; Peter Hanrahan, died November 17, 1881, age 6; Mary Behan, died June 5, 1882, age 2; Margaret McDonnell, died April 22, 1884, age 11 months; Hilarus Behan, died November 29, 1886, age 10 weeks; Lucy Behan, died December 24, 1886, age 3 weeks; Christine Stilwell, died December 3, 1887, age 20; Mildred Kessy, died January 6, 1889, age 5 months.
