Creating and performing arts head teacher Alison Shaw (nee Hope), who is originally from Oberon and attended Oberon Central School, planned the tour to give her city students the opportunity to film and record some of their repertoire in the beautiful countryside around the town.
Mrs Shaw, who originally performed as a youngster in school and community concerts, said she saw a distinct need in her students to gain inspiration from the vast country setting.
The students included 19 members of the school’s string ensemble, a clarinettist, an erhu player and six art students.
Mrs Shaw said students filmed two works in the Grand Arch at Jenolan Caves on the same day. The cinematic and aerial filming was carried out by Ascent Digital.
She said the students found the day exhilarating and it will, no doubt, be a performance they will never forget.
