On Sunday, the damp conditions were perfect for fishing and one lucky angler, Archie Graham, managed to snag a beaut rainbow trout out of Lake Oberon.
In July 500 externally tagged, 22-centimetre rainbow trout were released into the lake.
They were bred at the Department of Primary Industries' Dutton Trout Hatchery.
If you manage to catch a tagged fish in the lake, call the phone number on the tag and you'll receive a free lure.
The information will let DPI fisheries managers know that the fish are growing well. It is hoped the larger trout released will do better in the presence of redfin, which have a negative effect on the lake since they were illegally introduced five years ago.
It’s important anglers are aware of the rules associated with recreational fishing to ensure the sustainability of trout for future generations. Anglers must check they have a current and valid NSW Recreational Fishing Licence.
