More than 230 people have lost their life in quad bike-related accidents on Australian farms since 2001.
Mr Toole said SafeWork NSW is offering eligible farmers two rebates, of up to $1000 each, to help improve quad bike safety. Free training is also available.
“Accessing rebates and training is simple,” he said.
“You can either call into my office at 229 Howick Street in Bathurst, where all the information is available on an easy-to-understand USB, contact SafeWork NSW on 13 10 50 or visit safework.nsw.gov.au.
“The rebates are up to $1000 for each agricultural side-by-side vehicle (SSV); up to $500 for each quad bike or ATV Lifeguard Operator Device; and up to $90 for each compliant helmet.”
Mr Toole said the program was developed and aimed at farmers and farm workers due to the unacceptably high rate of injuries and fatalities that occur in NSW farming workplaces each year.
