It was the proceeds from the league’s annual charity auction held in July.
Football jerseys and goods supplied by Oberon businesses went under the hammer to raise money for this great cause.
Senior league president Ian Christie Johnston said they seem to raise more and more every year.
“Last year we raised $11,644 and to get over $12,000 this year is fantastic,” he said.
“Rugby league supporters and players value giving back to the community who support league in Oberon.
“We appreciate everyone who came to the fundraiser to help local families tackle cancer.”
The money raised will provide support for Oberon families struggling with the costs of cancer treatment, including travel and accommodation for appointments.
Oberon Can Assist president Brenda Armstrong said they appreciate the effort from organisers, players and sponsors.
“With this money we can help many in need at a very difficult time in their lives,” she said.
“It’s getting harder to raise money for any voluntary organisation, but with this money Can Assist can help those suffering with cancer.

“We thank all local businesses who provided goods for the auction on the night.”
