The NSW Government has announced it will invest $100 million in new and existing sporting infrastructure across regional NSW through the Regional Sports Infrastructure Fund.
The fund, which is part of the $1.3 billion Regional Growth Fund, will go towards improving the quality and quantity of sporting venues in the bush.
Sport is central to the lives of so many people in country communities and this fund will go towards sports projects that will benefit the whole community.
We are looking for projects that will not only improve the playing experience, but also the fan experience.
The fund provides a more streamlined and responsive approach to investment and I am looking forward to working with councils and sporting groups to identify projects.

Our communities have so many wonderful stories to tell and events to boost our economies and take visitors on an incredible journey - including showcasing our fantastic producers, artists, craftspeople, sportspeople and musicians.
The NSW Government has committed $43 million over four years to attract more visitors to experience our wonderful rural and regional destinations and events.
Expressions of interest for the 2018 Flagship Event Fund are open until the close of business on September 1.

Go for growth
DOES your local park need an upgrade? Do you need a new community hall?
The NSW Government recently handed down the biggest budget for regional NSW in the state’s history.
The centrepiece of the announcement was the $1.3 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is made up of a number of separate funds, with each fund dedicated to a specific area of need.
The Stronger Country Communities Fund is intended to support the refurbishment or development of new or existing community facilities including libraries, parks, walking and cycle pathways, health centres, halls and playgrounds.
I encourage community groups to contact local councils about submitting applications that will make a difference.
