Currently I am a member of the local Rural Fire Service and Oberon Council Community Services Committee.
I believe the current council delivers a lot for their small budget. Moving on, though, we need to be smarter, more efficient and focused on all possible deliverables for our residents into the future.
We need more dynamic applications to enable raising the council internal efficiencies, new current output models, and to locate more funding opportunities through grants and outcomes for our area.
We need to be well above the benchmark of other councils.
Oberon Council needs to expand on the tourism industry, Youth Council support, employment discussions with local business and drill down for increased efficiency and outcomes.
We need to investigate the options for more state and federal discussions about infrastructure and funding - like the sewer connection.
We need to ensure communication and transparency on current reports and balance sheet, especially increases in debt obligations for capital versus running costs.
I believe Oberon Council needs to be above the benchmark. There’s no time for complacency.
Council must be energetic in their direction and activities to ensure we can cover the full area fairly.
Proactive energy is for betterment - to ensure we provide no reason for others to source boundary changes again.
We need to be truly ready and "Fit for the Future".
