Oberon Children’s Centre took first place in the two-dimensional section for its work “King and Queen of Oberon” - the centre’s first entry into the W2A world, which was created by all of the small folk attending the centre.
Bronwyn Ingersole took first place in her section, open two-dimensional, with her artwork “Enigma”.
Joc Armstrong took out the prestigious Herb Clarke (Herbie) Award for her piece “The Stand”. This award, in memory of W2A supporter Herb Clarke, is awarded annually for the best artwork made from timber. This perpetual award has been won by an Oberon artist five times in the six years since its inception.
Mayor Kathy Sajowitz said congratulations should go to all winners in the Regional Competition.
"The standard is extremely high and competition fierce, so again, special congratulations to the successful Oberon artists,” she said.
"As in many areas, Oberon has once again punched well above its weight.
"W2A is a NetWaste initiative sponsored by Sims Metal and is supported by approximately 21 councils across the region.”
Cr Sajowitz said there more than 100 local entries.
"Thanks also go to the Friends of the Oberon Library for facilitating the local event on behalf of Oberon Council,” she said.
“There is still time to view the Regional Exhibition in Orange which closes on August 5.”
