That may have been the thinking behind former Oberon local Harry Fittler’s decision to take the plunge as a guest on Channel 7’s First Dates Australia, and he was clearly impressed with what he found.
Harry was obviously nervous as he entered the First Dates restaurant in an episode screened on Tuesday night and his first sight of Illawarra singer-songwriter Keira Sigsworth left him even more breathless.
As the episode rolled on the viewing audience shared some endearing moments between the pair, including Harry’s admission that he had never tried a banana and that he would eat any meat “except duck” [because he kept ducks as pets].
Harry and Keira was the most likeable pair on Tuesday night’s episode, particularly Harry’s charming country honesty.
“I can’t get over how beautiful and stunning you are – ridiculous,” the clearly smitten Oberon boy told her as he sampled his first ever banana for dessert.
So how did it end?
As the pair left the show they both said they would be keen for a second date but Keira has since told her home-town newspaper the Illawarra Mercury that they had only caught up on Facebook since their first meeting.
“We have such different lives, he wanted to settle down and buy a house and a farm,” she said.
“I lived by the beach and wanted to travel and play music.”
The show wrapped up by saying both Harry and Keira had moved to new towns since filming their date and were both still looking for love.
