An impressive field of golfers played a 3BBB stableford on Saturday and an individual stableford.
The three ball winners were an impressive team of Bill Grady, Bruce Amery and Barry Lang with a good score of 47 points. Bruce and Barry were most impressed with the form of Bill and his occasional four pointers. The runners-up was the team of John and Tim Crichton and Hamish Anderson. They had some hard luck stories to tell, but weakened on the back nine.
In the individual event, Hamish Anderson was the winner in A grade with 37 points and Alan Cairney was the runner-up with 37 points, losing on the countback. Bruce Amery was the winner in B grade with his best round at Oberon of 36 points. Linore Zamparini was the runner-up.
Nearest the pin on the first went to Glyn Samuel, Brian Beesley was just 1.3 metres from the seventh, Darren Gordon won the ninth and Hamish Anderson was just 90 centimetres from the 17th.
Balls for ability went to Scott Rowlandson, Kim Rawlings, Kyall Ryan, Rob McGrath, Darren Gordon, Neil Whalan, Mike Broadbent, Bob Rickard, Robbie Armstrong and Peter Dale.
Golf next Saturday will be an 18 hole stableford event. Don't forget there is also the option of playing a nine hole event. This may suit if you’re limited in time or the weather is not too kind.
Anybody who has some spare time could help with a few jobs on the course - raking sticks behind the seventh green and below the 14th green are priorities. Work will commence in the coming months on renovations to the old Scout Hall. Volunteers will be welcome on the job.
The captain advises that tee markers are not to be moved on competition days unless authorised and the balls on the flag sticks on various holes should not be adjusted without approval either.
