A DISTRICT resident who travels Gingkin Road says he and his neighbours are horrified at what he says is the unauthorised removal of one kilometre of trees for the replacement of a boundary fence.

“The landowner has taken out every tree and state laws say you’re allowed to clear 10 metres either side after seeking neighbours’ permission,” Phillip Haynes said. “In this case, the neighbouring landowner is Oberon Council.
“I went into council to inquire when they were halfway through the clearing process. After three visits to council, I’ve still not had a reply. There was no need to knock all the trees down. I don't know if the landowner was aware of the laws.”
Oberon Council's general manager Gary Wallace said council was investigating the issue as a result of concerns raised by the public.
