In her report to council, Mayor Kathy Sajowitz said she had been approached by several members of the community to gauge council’s interest in a cycle/walkway around Lake Oberon.
"The interested parties have agreed to work together with council to explore the feasibility of the project.
"I have made contact with a group who are currently working on a similar project around Burrendong Dam and I have been invited to attend their next workshop to gather information.
"Preliminary contact has also been made with State Water and assistance has been offered by Bicycle NSW."
Cr Sajowitz report said such a track would be in keeping with council’s tourism strategy and the project would attract many tourists.
The foreshores of Lake Oberon are a magnificent resource and the project would flow nicely into the Reef Reserve.
The working party will consist of Lex Azzopardi, Chris Duff, Peter Low and Don Capel and council representatives.
