FESL is currently paid through your insurance premiums.
In last week's Oberon Review it stated that insurance companies would give customers a rebate on their insurance premiums. This is incorrect.
In each financial years, landowners will make a single contribution. When insurance on a property is renewed at any time during 2016-17, the ESL component is a contribution to the cost of fire and emergency services for the twelve months ending June 2017. When the FESL commences on July 1, 2017, landowners will contribute to fire and emergency services funding for 2017-18.
The NSW Government now have a webiste with a calculator where you can receive more information and how much the FESL will cost you.
