Last Thursday Oberon High School hosted Canowindra High School in Round 1 of the Rural Cup.

This year Oberon High is defending the Cup which they have held for the past three years.
Rural Cup, a three-way contest between Oberon High, Molong Central and Canowindra High Schools.
A number of individual and team sports, as well as academic challenges, were contested over the day.
Teachers from both schools were impressed by the sportsmanlike behaviour and keen competitiveness displayed by all students.
Winners of the inaugural Oberon High School Rural Cup sportsmanship awards were
- Kane Danslow (year 7)
- Rachel Reynolds (year 7)
- Lachie Gibbs (year 9)
- Taylah Hogan (year 9)
- Ray Sargent (year 11)
- Alex Foley (year 11)
These awards acknowledge students who demonstrated responsibility, respectfulness and safe behaviour both on and off the field.
And at the end of the day?
Oberon won 300 points to 245.
This win puts Oberon in a great position going into Round 2 which will be against Molong Central School at Molong. Round 2 has been changed to June 15th (Week 8 of Term 2).
Oberon Public School
Oberon Public School students are participating in a variety of creative art programs this term.
Mitchell Conservatory of Music will be visiting each Monday to deliver choir lessons from K-6.
They will also be visiting on Thursdays to support the school band.
All students are thoroughly enjoying the experience and learning many skills from the very talented music teachers.
Waste to Art is fast approaching with “plastic bags” being the theme amongst artworks. Waste to art projects are to be completed by June.
Students have been thinking, planning and beginning to create a variety of interesting projects.
The annual Operation Art competition closed on Monday, with all students entering a piece of artwork.
A judging panel have selected a winning artwork from each stage.
These artworks will be forwarded to Sydney for entry into the state-wide competition.

St Joseph’s
Over forty students from St Joseph’s Catholic School attended the ANZAC Day March last week.
