It runs on Saturday June 3 and Sunday June 4 from 9.30am-4.00pm. Cost $100 includes both days. Phone Kathy Sajowitz 0419231525 for details of how to book.
Lanny Mackenzie's exhibition 'Re-Birth' is running at the Mount Tomah Botanical Gardens until May 28 and will give visitors a chance to see some of her vibrant work. Lanny draws her Indonesian – Balinese – Chinese based background in her weaving and loves blending interesting colours and textures in her pieces.
WASTE 2 ART
Waste 2 Art theme for this year is 'plastic bags and soft plastic packaging'. The theme is chosen by Orange, the hosts of the Waste 2 Art Regional Exhibition this year. By coincidence this is in keeping with Oberon Rotary's initiative 'Oberon Boomerang Bags' encouraging the use of alternative bags for shopping. Rotary also sponsors the People's Choice Award in our local Waste 2 Art competition.
Our winning entries go to the Orange Regional Museum for the finals, opening Saturday July 8, with prizes worth $9000 sponsored by Sims Metal Management. Any material may be up-cycled for the competition entries, and both Oberon and the regional are offering a special Scrap Metal Award. Fabric and paper in the form of collage work have been remodelled into beautiful artwork in the past.
Oberon's W2A Exhibition will be held at the Robert Hooper Community Centre from Wednesday June 7 to Saturday June 10, closing date for entry forms May 29. Entry forms from Oberon Council and library, phone 0419231525 or downloaded from council website.
