THERE was no golf on Thursday afternoon due to the much-needed beautiful rain. The rain over the past couple of weeks has completely changed the golf course. It is looking in great condition leading up to the championships the next two weekends.

Visitors from Shelly Beach Golf Club joined us on Saturday. They had a great time and took a couple of the nearest the pins, along with the ladies’ winner.
Hamish continues to show his old form, leading a large field of golfers to win A grade with a solid round of 39 points. A four-way countback was needed to establish that Sean Mooney was the runner-up in A grade. The B-graders scored well and a countback was needed to establish Mick McKechnie as the winner with 39 points. The runner-up was Linore Zamparini on 39 points.
Nearest the pin on the first went to Cathy Garner at just 78 centimetres from the cup. Jeanette Arkins won the seventh, Barry Lang was just 80cm from the ninth and Sean Mooney was at 2.2 metres at the 17th. Balls went to Robert Hayden, Brian Beesley, Darren Gordon, Harold Lyme, John Crichton, Jake Schumacher, Dennis O'Connell and Kevin McGrath.
The men's Club Championships begin this weekend. The event will be played this Saturday and Sunday and the following Saturday and Sunday. A grade will be 0 to 9 handicap, B grade will be 10 to 15 handicaps and C grade 16 and up. C grade will be played as a stableford event, with the best two rounds over the two championship weekends counting.
Seedings for A grade to tee off at 11am will be Kyall Ryan, Hamish Anderson, Robert Hayden and Kim Rawlings. B grade seedings will be Alan Cairney, Scott Rowlandson, Eric Whalan and Neil Whalan.
