The audit discovered that the Oberon Council Library was contravening the Library Act by imposing a fee for public use of the library computers.
The fee in question was introduced in 2015/16. The use is free for the first hour, then $5.15 per hour thereafter.
The fee has never been charged to any community members, but has worked well to halt the extended use of public computers by a single person for extended periods of time, so other visitors can use them.
The fee is also charged for the use of the public computers at the Community Technology Centre.
To be consistent, the fees will be removed from all public computers.
However, the one hour time limit will continue for the computers.
