It was a busy weekend for our golfers. On Saturday we were joined by a good number of the ladies who participated in the mixed 4BBB and the men played a stableford 4BBB event.

The mixed event was won by Eric Whalan and Wilma Artery with 47 points, closely followed by Katie Graham and Barry Lang with 46. The ladies’ 4BBB was won by Vonda Voytilla and Yvonne Collins with 46 points, while Marj Webb and Wilma Artery were the runners-up with 44. The men's 4BBB was won by Kim Rawlings and Mick McKechnie with 48 and Kevin McGrath and Laurie Murphy were runners-up with 45. Doug Collins won both nearest the pins.
Sunday was the Oberon Golf Club Open event. Golfers from Bathurst, Lithgow, Portland, Henbury, Blackheath and Wentworth Falls participated in a stroke and stableford event. Our local golfers acquitted themselves extremely well. Robert McGrath had a welcome return to form and was the Open winner with a fine round of 71/67. The runner-up from Lithgow was Ian Nightingale on 74. Marty Hotham had the round of his career (76/64) to win the A grade handicap, while Max Nightingale (76/67) was the runner-up. The B grade scratch was also won by a local, Laurie Murphy, with 83, closely followed by Chad Drury (87). Kevin McGrath won the B grade handicap and the Keith Cleton Memorial trophy for the best local over the two days. Harold Lyme won the B grade stableford event with 38 points. The longest drive in A grade was won by Barry Lang with a massive shot up the middle of the 14th.
Golf on Thursday was won by Peter Dale with 31 points. Balls went to Kim Rawlings, Harold Lyme, Brian Balaam and Roger Arrow.
Golf next Saturday will be an 18 hole stroke event playing for the monthly medal and a putting competition.
