Councillor Clive McCarthy there was a need to change the relevant clause because a six-lot subdivision in Blenheim Avenue had power available across the road and he said he could not see why the road had to be dug up six times when underground power should be supplied to each block by the developer.
HEALTH COUNCIL
MAYOR Kathy Sajowitz has been appointed as a delegate to the Oberon Health Council after a motion was carried at council’s ordinary meeting.
Councillor John Morgan had been a member of the health council under a private arrangement, not via a councillor delegate appointment.
Following his resignation from the position, however, the health council requested council appoint a delegate.
The Oberon Health Council is appointed to act as a community advisory body to the Oberon Multipurpose Centre. The health council is appointed via NSW Health and delegates are required to go through an interview and assessment process to formalise the appointment.
Oberon Health Council members are appointed for a two-year term and meet monthly, usually on a Thursday evening.
WATER STATIONS
OBERON Council has been successful in an application for a grant through the Veolia Mulwaree Trust to install water bottle refilling stations at the Oberon Common, Oberon Recreation Ground and Oberon Football Ground.
The trust has agreed to provide grant funding of $7391 towards the project, which is an initiative of the Oberon Health Council.
The project supports the NSW Health Program “Make Healthy Normal” by encouraging the community to take small steps towards a healthier lifestyle by participating in regular physical activity and by drinking water instead of soft drinks after sport and exercise.
