The Thursday afternoon 12-hole competition was well-supported. Richard Gear had a great score of 33 points. Brian Balaam wasn't far behind with 31 and won himself a ball, as did Hugh O'Neil and Bill Wilcox.
A big field played a par event on Saturday.
Tim Crichton won A grade with the excellent score of +6, and the runner-up was Hamish Anderson with +4. Paul Behan won B grade with a solid +4, and the runner-up on +2 was Robbie Armstrong. Both winners had good wins in their respective match plays. Most of the first round of the match play has been played. Those matches not yet played need to be played in the next two weeks.
Nearest the pin on the first was Robyn Stapleton (78cm), George Williams (visiting from Everglades) was closest on the seventh, Hamish Anderson took the ninth and Neil Whalan the 17th.
Balls went to Thomas McKinnon, Barry Lang, Roger Arrow, John Crichton and Robyn Stapleton. Oberon was well-represented at the Blackheath Open on Sunday, but none of our members showed much good form.
On Saturday we will play a 4BBB and mixed 4BBB. We will be playing for tickets to the NSW Tennis Open finals. Sunday is Open day.
