In our local community there are many quiet achievers who work tirelessly for others. The Australia Day Citizens Awards are an ideal opportunity for us all to recognise the efforts of these individuals.
The Citizens Awards categories are as follows: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year (for persons up to 18 years), Sportsperson of the Year, Young Sportsperson of the Year (for persons up to 18 years), Sports Team of the Year, Community Event of the Year, Volunteer or Volunteer Group of the Year.
Nominations close October 28. Forms available from Council’s Administration Centre, the Oberon Visitor Information Centre or can be downloaded from council's website.
Green Power
Green Power at Hartley will host an open day on Saturday for people interested in electric powered vehicles. The open day will feature Australia’s greatest collection of electric cars and the fastest electric motorbike.
Participants will get the chance talk with some members of the Australian Electric Vehicle Association and learn how they might never need petrol again. Meet at Hartley Green Power, 2355 GreatWestern Highway from 11am. Phone 6355 2299.
RSL Winter Winners
Oberon RSL Club's Members Winter Spectacular promotion was drawn last Saturday night. Manager of Oberon RSL Club Peter Price presented the winners with their prizes.
The major winner was Pamela Warren who, collected $5000 Mawhood's Mitre 10 voucher. Dawn Brien, Darrin McFawn, Stephen Booth and Lance Sully also each received a $500 Good Guys voucher.

Congratulations to all the parents and welcome to the beautiful babies born recently. Congratulations to Kaine Cuthbert and Zenae Duffy who welcomed Octavia Grace-lee Cuthbert on August 30.
Congratulations to Nicola and Daniel McMahon and welcomed to their son James Patrick McMahon who arrived on September 2.
Congratulations to Jason and Kathleen Martin who welcomed their first little girl, Grace Marie Martin to their family. Grace was born on August 31.
