At the Oberon Tigers semi-final held on Saturday, Oberon Can Assist was presented with a cheque for $11,644 - the proceeds from the Tigers’ annual Can Assist fundraising day held in August.
Oberon Rugby League Club's junior league, senior league and Old Tiges come together annually to raise funds for this cause.
Oberon Rugby League Club president Ian Christie Johnston said this was the largest donation to date.
"The jersey auction made the most money and the Oberon Tigers were to be commended for purchasing their own jumpers,” he said.
"Last year we raised $7500 and we thought that was good, but this year to raise over $11,000 is terrific. Over the past four years I think we have raised close to $40,000 for Can Assist. We love to give back to the community who give so much to us.”
Oberon Can Assist president Brenda Armstrong thanked the Oberon club and sponsors. She said this was the biggest single donation Oberon Can Assist received every year.
