Following greyhound racing, what's next to be banned in NSW come July 1, 2017?
We have the results from young Wayne Barker's survey on the impact a certain KPMG report will have on horse racing in NSW.
Jockeys will no longer be used to manoeuvre any horses around the track as the use of bridles can harm the horses and produce possible back pain. Horses will simply be trained to run on their own merit.
The same applies to harness racing - horses will no longer be required to drag a gig and driver around the track. Under the new format, the race caller will simply start them off by saying: "Ready, set, go."
Mind you, the state government is not too sure how to stop them once they have run their distance. Rumour has it that traffic lights may be used. Stay tuned.
No doubt you heard about the "sausage sizzle shutdown” at Bathurst Sportsground as imposed by Bathurst Regional Council and reported in the Western Advocate.
A sausage sandwich on the sidelines of a junior footy match has long been one of life's simple pleasures, but no more.
Apparently the sportsground canteen is only equipped for the sale of pre-packaged foods.
Remember, this is the council Oberon will amalgamate with if the NSW Government has its way. Will it be only a matter of time before sausage sizzles on the old barbecue are banned in South East Bat-Hurst (formerly Oberon)?
Mind you, our very own cooking guru, young Kevin Cole, has suggested he could cook the sausages here in Oberon, then pre-pack them so sporting/community and school groups could still raise a few dollars at the Bat-Hurst sportsground.
Young Paddy Foran says he could help in offering meals cooked, pre-packed and delivered from Oberon.
He has a supply of hot dogs, fish and chips and pre-packed coffee ready for delivery - not to mention some pre-packed scones courtesy of young Ian Cunynghame.
