The cooking and catering equipment at the showground is in urgent need of replacement and through the CBP, the Show Society will now be in a position to complete these upgrades.

Many events are held at the showground and catering plays an important part in ensuring a successful function, so there are benefits all round, for the community and for the Show Society.

I congratulate the Oberon Show Society and I am pleased that the support of the CBP and that of the NSW Government will enable these improvements to take place.

Applications for the latest round of funding have recently closed and successful applicants will be announced later this year.

The CBP should be considered by all community groups and organisations that may have a project that meets the guidelines of the program.

THIS year acknowledges 62 years of Education Week in NSW.

This year’s theme, “Shared stories, better learning, stronger communities”, acknowledges public schools across the state and the important role they play in fostering relationships between students, staff and the community.

As a parent and former teacher, I encourage everyone to look for activities and opportunities throughout the week that demonstrate the outstanding achievements of our schools, teachers and students, and to support and attend these activities where you can.

The NSW Liberals and Nationals Government is committed to investing in education, with a record $13.7 billion in this year’s budget.

I look forward to delivering this funding to schools across the electorate and supporting the learning of our future generations.

LOCAL Government Week is also being celebrated from August 1-7.

It’s an opportunity for us all to acknowledge NSW councils and the services they provide to local communities 365 days a year.

While many people are aware that councils manage rates, roads and rubbish, the breadth and diversity of their work often goes unrecognised.

Local councils right across the state will hold various events including family days and open days.
